January of 2021 Newsletter!

January is off to an exciting start at Agave. We had two new employees start their journey and rolled out our 2021 company goals. We believe we'll help as many families in the first quarter as we did in all of 2020. The growth is in large part due to our early employees and fearless CTO, Joey Harrington, implementing software that helps our team and clients move through the loan process fast and easy. Our newer hires are buying into the philosophies and putting them into action. They are obsessed with giving and receiving feedback, perfecting the process, and understand that the most important piece of this business is the client experience.

Welcome to the 2nd ever Agave newsletter. As always, thank you for taking the time to read and support our business. We are strong believers in providing insightful content to spread financial education to as many people possible. Understanding personal finance and the best practices that inch folks closer to their goals is why our company exists. Our leadership team spent the beginning of December giving plenty of thought to our short and long-term vision as an organization. To help guide our decision making, we created a company mission statement that acts as our North Star. After deliberation and some needed simplification, I bring to you the Agave Mission Statement, “to raise the bar by helping people define and achieve their financial goals”.A phrase commonly shouted in the office is “the bar is so low”. Mortgages are a pain. Our clients are constantly complaining about prior experiences with other companies regarding poor communication, bad expectations, and not feeling like they are being offered the absolute best terms. Many large mortgage companies choose ease (their own ease so they can jam more loans in the pipeline) and profit over the optimal program and service.Consumer sentiment on the mortgage experience is lackluster to say the least and the bar is not set high to begin. Friendly communication, calling clients on-time, and offering people the best possible terms by sifting through over 50 financial institutions is not difficult. In fact, they are all things our team is required to do with EVERY client. We are not interested in raising the bar of this industry from the current position (a resting Romanian deadlift position) to a mere 42-inches (the average commercial cocktail bar height). We are interested in raising the bar to Mondo Duplantis’s world record Pole Vault type heights. We are interested in our clients knowing that they are not just a number with us and that they will receive both great price and great service. It does not have to be one or the other (jump to 1-minute). - Marshall Gottlieb, CEO
