June 2021 Newsletter: Belief and momentum



Welcome to the latest edition of the Agave Home Loans newsletter. Here's a recap of how our May finished up:
We had 71 new loans submitted to underwriting
5 new employees hired moving us to 24 actively

New records set for outbound dials in a day
Drove turn-times on loan with no-appraisal down to 10 days from start to cleared for closing (this is really fast compared to competition)
Another historic month in the books at Agave. We've doubled our size in less than 4 months. Growth is good but comes with challenges. We have to drive home our culture early and often. We have to change the lens in which our people approach the business and constantly remind them the importance of patience. Our #1 focus is training, coaching, and teaching to ensure client experience is the end all be all. More team members focus on the mission of "raising the bar" means good growth.

More Belief, More Momentum
Each month, our C.O.O. and Co-Owner, Doug Wang presents a monthly recap and award ceremony to the entire company. We recognize the achievements and learning lessons of the prior month featuring top reviews, highest production, and featured PUPs (Philosophies U Practice for the readers). Doug spoke about our newest team members going through what we call “The Combine”. For those of you that do not know, the Combine is what the NFL puts draft prospects through to test their agility, strength, and overall skill set as an athlete. Our Combiners dial hundreds of potential clients per day and attempt to connect them with a licensed Loan Officer. This work and role are challenging. It requires determination, perseverance, and the ability to overcome constant objections and rejection. Two months ago, our dialers were averaging 80-100 outbound phone calls per day resulting in 1 or 2 connections or transfers. Each month we have seen the ceiling rise. You could say that we’ve “raised the roof”. With improvements to proprietary technology built by CTO, Joey Harrington, we are now averaging 300-400 outbound phone calls each day. 4x the phone calls combined with improvements in skill and data had led to 10x the connections from Combiner to Loan Officer. We commonly reference the story of the 4-minute mile where Roger Bannister became the first human to achieve the feat in 1954. Since then, over 1,400 athletes have broken the barrier. Sometimes you just need one human-being to “raise the roof” before everyone else can enter the house. This is not a track story. It is not a mortgage company or an outbound dialing story. It is a story of when a large group of people believing something is impossible, it likely is not. And when someone demonstrates that it is doable, many others follow. What an exciting time to be alive. Love him or hate him, Elon Musk is building rocket ships to the moon. Not only that but he has been a catalyst in bringing electric vehicles to the forefront of every auto manufacturer. Simultaneously, he is working on Neuralink that could give people with physical limitations the ability to walk, feel, see, or hear for the first time. As if rockets, Tesla, and brain interfacing devices aren’t enough, he also owns the Boring Company which digs tunnels under major cities to help with transportation and decrease the need for gasoline powered vehicles. How does one human being do all this? Belief. Belief in yourself. Belief in humanity. Belief turns to action. Action turns to momentum and momentum and belief are an unstoppable force. Belief can start with something as simple as KNOWING you will find the right house in a challenging market. Gabrielle Bruner talks about this being the #1 tip for current buyers. It can be the belief you will get out of debt, start a business, or get into better shape. Our unwavering belief and vision is to become the best and largest mortgage brokerage in the state of Arizona. Accomplishing this will require dedication, the right people, hyper focus, and above all else, the ability to deliver the best product to our clients.
